TOP 10 TOOLS 2009
Tina Rettler

Tina is an Instructional Design and Curriculum Consultant at Madison Area Technical College.  Her Top Ten tools are based on her usage of them as a faculty member and their use in her online classroom.

Tina's Top 10 Tools as at 9 November 2009

  1. Poll Daddy - a good way to get quick polling from students. Also offers a great opener for a new week or lesson.

  2. Google Docs - using Google docs for all of my course materials. I can change it once and the work is done! no need to relink or reload files.

  3. Audacity - the easiest way to create simple sound files.

  4. Del.icio.us - my bookmarks go with me wherever I go. And I can create a class set of bookmarks!

  5. LiveScribe Pen - perfect for math instruction.

  6. VoiceThread - Allows my students to provide audio commentary. Takes away some of the doldrum of always using the LMS discussion board.

  7. bubbl.us - easy to use. A good tool for the creative learners.

  8. Flickr - when searched using Creative Commons, Flickr is a must for online teachers looking for photos.

  9. Google Voice - I don't have to give out my own personal information to students. They can call my Google voice number and it routes to me wherever I am!

  10. WIKIs - I use the WIKI in the LMS, so I can't give a specific WIKI tool name. But the WIKI allows students contribute to a collaborative work.
