TOP TOOLS
TOP 10 TOOLS 2008
Sathish Narayanan

I am Sathish Narayanan, based in India. I have three years of experience in Instructional Design. I also own a blog on e-learning (elearningtyro.wordpress.com).

Sathish's Top 10 Tools as at 5 March 2008

  1. Articulate Presenter: I will rate this tool as the best tool for developing rapid e-learning courses. I use this tool to convert the PPT file to an SWF file, customize an e-learning template of my choice, and publish the course for LMS.

  2. Articulate Quizmaker: I always use this tool for creating quizzes. It is such a useful tool for creating innovative quizzes.

  3. Articulate Engage: I am sure that the e-learning professionals will use this tool extensively in years to come. Without any help from graphic designers and multimedia programmers, I can include compelling learning interaction with stunning visual quality in my e-learning courses. Amazing tool!

  4. Adobe Captivate: I have been using this tool for the past three years. In my opinion, this is the best tool to develop software demonstrations.

  5. Moodle: It really surprises me how this course management system offers a plenty of course management features for free. I always recommend Moodle if someone asks me for the cheapest yet the best CMS or LMS for online learning.

  6. Microsoft Word and Powerpoint: Depending on the project requirement, I use either Microsoft Word or Powerpoint for developing the storyboards for e-learning courses. I am impressed with the look and feel of Microsoft Office 2007.

  7. Audacity: I use this tool whenever there is a requirement for audio recording or editing. It is such a useful tool and it's free!

  8. Gmail: I use Gmail for sending and receiving my professional e-mail messages. Sometimes I use this as a secure file server for storing my files too J

  9. Wordpress: This is the best tool for blogging and provides some features that are not available in other blogging tools.

  10. Linkedin: I use LinkedIn for building my professional network.
