Chris's Top 10 Tools as at 12 October 2009

  1. Google Desktop - Brilliant productivity search tool which enables me to quickly find anything on my hard drives by pressing the Ctrl button twice. Saves so much time.

  2. PrtScr - My new favourite screen capture program which looks lovely and does everything an advanced screen capture program should do and it's free!

  3. Google Earth - Is there a more important learning tool for a Geography Teacher? The expanding layers list is fantastic but when are they going to add river names?

  4. Moodle - I've installed this at our school this year. The uptake by students and staff has been fantastic.

  5. Pix Resizer - A great little program that can quickly resize individual images or entire directories to a specified size.

  6. Scribefire - I love this Blogging Extension for Firefox as it means that you can quickly blog from whichever page you happen to be on.

  7. Spacemonger - Great little program that visualises how your hardrive is being used. The older version 1.1 is still out there and it's free.

  8. Synctoy - Very fast way of syncing across networks or multiple computers.

  9. Evernote - Excellent way or getting quick notes, photos, audio recording onto your phone and then archiving online. Perfect for staff briefings for reference later.

  10. BBC Learning Clips - A great resource for any teacher. High quality and searchable.
