In this new world of work it’s up to everyone to develop themselves

There is no longer such a thing as a job for a life – only a life of jobs –  and as most organisations only train their people to do their current job – not prepare them for a future job – it’ll be up to everyone to take control of their own career as well as their own professional growth and development.

In other words, it’ll be up to every individual to remain marketable and acquire new knowledge and skills – in order to keep their job or find a new job.

But this won’t happen simply through self-study; your future isn’t determined by a curriculum but by continuously keeping up to date with what is happening in your industry or profession and preparing for the future.

“every one of us must have a career strategy, and that strategy should be guided by your industry’s trajectory. You should be fine-tuned to the intricacies of your profession. You have no choice. You have to self-develop to stay relevant. Always remember that YOU are in charge of your career  Never get sucked into the “company knows best” approach to your career.”*
