Top 100 Tools for Learning 2008 now finalised - - - Over 500 learning professionals in the Twitter Directory - - - An Introduction to E-Learning now available again as an open access online resource

Welcome

Welcome to the Centre for Learning and Performance Technologies (C4LPT).

I am Jane Hart and here I keep track of learning trends, technologies and tools to help organisations understand them and implement them successfully for both formal and informal learning purposes as well as to support productivity and performance improvement.

You can find out more about me and the services I offer to both business and education. My current activities are focussed on helping organisations implement social learning initiatives

I am also a regular contributor to (e-)learning magazines and speaker at national and international conferences, you can read my recent articles and presentations.

Every day I select an (e-)learning item of interest and post about it on my blog: Jane's E-Learning Pick of the Day.  Other learning technology-related news I post in the LearnTech News.

Free Resources

I have produced and compiled a number of free resources about learning tools.  These include:

Directory of Learning Tools
Over the years my clients have asked me for recommendations of tools for different purposes so  I began to put together a list some years ago.  Now this Directory contains over 2,500 tools that range from "traditional" course authoring tools to E-Learning 2.0 collaboration and sharing tools as well as tools for managing your personal learning - and two-thirds of them are FREE,

Top 10 favourite tools lists
I have also been asked what my favourite tools are.  However, as I believed it was just as important to find out what other learning professionals think, during 2008 223 people contributed their Top 10 Tools for Learning.

Top 100 Tools for Learning 2008
From the Top 10 Tools list I then compiled the Top 100 Tools for Learning list.  It is interesting to compare the rankings with last year's list. I also categorised this list to create a Toolset for Learning 2009

25 tools every learning professional should have in their Toolbox - and all for free
Using the Toolset for Learning I then identified 25 key free tools - these are both tools for personal learning as well as creating learning for others - and created the 25 Tools resource.  There is a slideshow, and an online workshop (Moodle) site where you can find Mini Tutorials to help you with the tools.  And there is a  Community, too, to share your experience of these tools with others.

Directory of Learning Professionals on Twitter
Twitter is becoming a popular tool for learning professionals. Here is a growing list of individuals who use Twitter to connect with others around the world

An Introduction to E-Learning
I have also written a number of more comprehensive resources for those who want to find out more about new trends, technologies and tools. This one is for learning professionals. The online resources is free, open access, however there is a small charge for the PDF version.

The Centre for Learning & Performance Technologies (C4LPT) website attracts over 9,000 visitors a day.
